Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 Review

For the games that came before

Gear up for Expedition 33 with Gustave and Maelle as they attempt to stop the Paintress to save what’s left of Lumiere while uncovering the secrets of their broken world. The game delivers an emotionally dense, semi-linear story with beautifully crafted cutscenes and a lush world full of memorable characters. Expedition 33 doesn’t disappoint on any level. The turn-based combat features an engaging twist, letting you dodge enemy attacks and hit skill checks to deal more damage. There’s so much going on story-wise that if you blink, you might miss a key moment or fail to dodge that sends you to an early grave. It’s best not to blink at all while playing! Finally, the soundtrack ties everything together, adding an intense emotional punch for every moment of the journey. I could write thousands of words about how awesome this game is, but honestly, you should just play it yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

Considerations:

  • ✅ Engaging turn-based combat

  • ✅ world filled with people to meet and things to find

  • ✅ Emotionally striking cut scenes

  • ✅ Beautifully stunning soundtrack

Final Verdict:

Clair Obscure Expedition 33 gets 10 pets rocks for Esquie out of 10
